Mulberry tree bark
The branches of the mulberry shrubs are harvested in the autumn, and the innermost layer of bark (white bark) is stripped from the timber and boiled in a mixture of water and soda ash. The strips are then beaten by hand until they have been well separated.
The diffuser is formed by hand sewing each of the prepared clusters of fiber to a cotton grid, which has been fastened to the base structure.
The colour of the material is a soft white that yellows a little with age. To clean diffusers in this material, we recommend that they be dusted or lightly vacuumed.

Ango Sculptural Handcrafted Lighting of Outstanding Luminosity
Ango in Maison et Objet, Paris 5-9 September 2024
Ango is dedicated to creating exceptional lighting pieces that embody sustainability, purity, and authenticity, and will spread positive energy through any space.
Since 2004, we have been creating lighting using the unique handmade techniques developed by ourselves, crafting each piece individually. Designs by Ango suggest an optimistic vision of onward movement and openness while meeting the inequality and climate crises through engagement with traditional hand-crafting skills, the use of recycled or natural easily replenishable materials, and the use of minimal energy-intensive manufacturing to present a broad range of lighting including art pieces at any scale.
With Ango’s variety of translucent materials, we transform natural material, composite material of mulberry tree bark and fishing net and recycled waste plastic material sculptural lighting and art piece in any scale. Ango designs for Maison et Objet 2024 are as following;

Sculpture of Light:
Triple Orbit & Double Orbit pendant light
Triple Orbit & Double Orbit by Ango, a large-scale light that presents infinite possibility, is a unique eco spectacular lighting piece alluding to infinity and a triple affinity. Created with three or two hand woven rattan interlocking organic light ring forms, the piece has multiple installation possibilities and also lends itself to being expanded or customised for a particular space, depending on the situation and characteristics.
Triple Orbit & Double Orbit rattan pendant lights are one of Ango signature handcrafted architectonic lighting pieces. Its form is one of a kind that can be called an art piece or lighting sculpture in a space.
Transcendence Suspension
Series Sophisticated sculptural pendant lighting pieces
In Transcendence Suspension 4, 6, 8, separate diffusers are combined, each one handcrafted in flux lines of luminescence formed into a diaphanous cloud realised with light.
The random configurations and differing intervals and intensity of the gossamer light material beautifully modulate the light from the central light source.
With their unique forms, Transcendence Suspension Series will illuminate your space with sophisticated light, and the ambient light emitted creates a warm and very human atmosphere.
Illuminating the Future of Sustainable Design
Paint the Light
Imagined painted forms, incarnated in light and rendered as freeform sculptures in four colours. Each piece of Paint the Light is created in three dimensions to be hung in a sequence of unplanned enchantment with each part referring to and reinforcing its neighbour.
Using recycled plastic waste material, these indoor / outdoor pendant lights demonstrate a high degree of sustainable design, and are powered by a low energy/low voltage light source. At the end of its life cycle, all the components that have gone into each Painting the Light can easily be disassembled and recycled for further reuse.

Unit Boy Series
Unit Boy, pendant and table lamps in recycled plastic waste material, created in the unique random weaving technique developed by Ango, are one of a kind pieces. The diffuser form references a lotus bloom, while the light emitted via the diffuser has a wonderful warmth, accentuated by the cadmium orange coated base.
