Mulberry tree bark
The branches of the mulberry shrubs are harvested in the autumn, and the innermost layer of bark (white bark) is stripped from the timber and boiled in a mixture of water and soda ash. The strips are then beaten by hand until they have been well separated.
The diffuser is formed by hand sewing each of the prepared clusters of fiber to a cotton grid, which has been fastened to the base structure.
The colour of the material is a soft white that yellows a little with age. To clean diffusers in this material, we recommend that they be dusted or lightly vacuumed.

The refurbishment of Royal Gems flagship store with silk cocoon custom lighting.
The production of silk is celebrated in a custom lighting installation for Royal Gems Company, who refurbished their flagship store in 2015 and for the main entrance requested an elegant lighting installation, ideally employing silk.
An uplifting entrance for the high end silk fabrics company was achieved with a spectacular array of lighting in a configuration of nine pieces of a special edition of Paradise, an oval form pendant light. The diffuser material used is totally natural untreated silk cocoons, and so the extraordinary effort that goes into the creation of each pod by the silk worm, with a total of around 30,000 miles of silk filament in the installation is harnessed to wow the consumer.
